Dear Friends,

This past month we have seen dangerously high temperatures in B.C, which tragically claimed the lives of more than 700 people. That same week, the B.C. community of Lytton, and people living on surrounding Nlaka’pamux First Nation territory and rural areas, became one of the hottest places on Earth. The catastrophic fire that came subsequently burned this B.C. village to the ground.

The climate emergency is the most pressing challenge of our time. We know the next 10 years are critical to fighting the climate crisis. As the planet warms, the pathway to net zero by 2050 is narrow. We need to ensure Canada takes climate action now to reduce emissions, close the socio-economic gaps and ramp up the shift toward a clean energy low-carbon economy.

I introduced two legislative tools in Parliament to help us to resolve these crises:  Motion M-1 for a Green New Deal and Motion M-94 to stop the Trans Mountain pipeline project. The Stop TMX e-petition initiated by Tim Takaro from New Westminster is also open now http://ow.ly/ISpR50FvqDE. I look forward to presenting it in Parliament. The government then has 45 days to provide a formal response!

Show your support by adding your name to these petitions. It is time the government protects the environment instead of spending 20 billion dollars to ram through the Trans Mountain pipeline.
