BC is experiencing a record-breaking heatwave that is expected to last until Tuesday. Keep cool by following these tips:
✅ Drink plenty of fluids and wear sunscreen
✅ If possible, stay indoors between 11 AM and 7 PM, and avoid direct sunlight and sunburn
✅ Check on your children, older family members, and pets – don’t leave people or pets unattended in vehicles
✅ Avoid tiring work or exercise if possible, and take plenty of breaks when working outdoors
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing, including a hat
✅ Contact a healthcare provider if you are feeling ill and your symptoms don’t improve
Remember, high temperatures increase the risk of wildfire, and everyone is asked to do their part to prevent human-caused wildfires and help keep communities safe. To report a wildfire, unattended campfire, or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone.
