加拿大总理贾斯廷·特鲁多6月18日出席“行动起来！加拿大华人团结一致”(简称ACCT)基金会主办的网络论坛时表示，若要解决针对亚裔的种族主义，包括亚裔和非亚裔在内的每个人都需要成为解决方案的一部分。
特鲁多表示，过去一年多是加拿大抗击疫情、面对各种挑战的艰难时刻。种族主义、焦虑和不宽容的程度也在不断上升，因为在各地有太多人遭遇了针对亚裔的种族主义。这是绝对不可接受的。
特鲁多坦言，系统性种族主义在加拿大是存在的，且存在于所有机构、各级政府和人们所做的方方面面之中。种族主义不仅影响一个社群，更会影响所有人。他说：“我们不是要修复系统，而是必须改变系统。”
